ABOUT TKC

Owners Harold and Monica Nuffer got involved making wine as many others do, they loved wine. Harold created homemade red wines when he was based at China Lake Naval Weapons Center in the early 70’s-yes, he was a rocket scientist.  Harold bought the property located four miles east of Plymouth down a sleepy gravel road in 1978. In 1981, they built the winery and made their first commercial vintage of Zinfandel, while still keeping his day job and commuting 460 miles one way each month to work at the winery—vacation they called it. The couple decided to name the winery after their three children: Tierre, Karina and Courtnay (TKC) Vineyards as it became known.  TKC Vineyards is nestled in the heart of the quiet Amador County wine country

His skills as an engineer only helped excel his winemaking ability; attention to detail, a bit of science, and a passion for quality is what makes TKC wines a unique and a great wine for any occasion.

Since we are a small winery, we have the advantage of taking our time fermenting our grapes in small batches and allow the wine to age in small oak casks to become a well-balanced and perfectly aged wine that goes well with any hearty meal.  Our wines are known for their big bold flavor and their balance of alcohol, tannins and acid which allows these wines to be laid down for years.  We generally age all our wines at least two years in barrels before bottling and release.

Winemaker: Karina
Their daughter the K in TKC took over winemaking for the business in 2006. She received her enology degree from Fresno State besides learning from the master since she was knee high to a grasshopper. She still holds true to her dad’s style of winemaking but at the same time making it softer and lower alcohol, retreating from the huge heavy alcoholic California red wines.
